Welcome to THE DOYLE PAGE!
THE
DOYLE PAGE is
the only official Internet site belonging to
The
Clann O DubhGhaill/Clan Doyle .
The Clann O DubhGhaill/Clan
Doyle is registered with THE CLANS OF IRELAND
OFFICE in Ireland.
In recent years, the Clans of
Ireland have become an important link to Irish culture
and history for many people with Irish ancestry or
family connections.
The Clans of Ireland Office was
established as the governing body of family associations
in Ireland by the Office of the Prime Minister of
Ireland. The Clans of Ireland Office has the
responsibility to assist Irish Clans in planning and
holding Clan Gatherings, and to help publicise and
organise the Irish Clans. With funding from Bord Failte
(Irish Tourist Board) and the European Union, the Clans
of Ireland Office has succeeded in registering nearly
200 Irish Clans, and this year will hold over 40 Clan
Gatherings, attended by more than 10,000 people of Irish
descent. Some Irish surnames have roots originating in
the 5th century A.D. and earlier. Some descend from
kings and ruling families who were prominent in Irish
history, while others descend from famous intellectual
or bardic families who preserved the history and culture
of their nation for posterity. Others, like the Doyles,
trace their origins to the warlike Viking invaders from
Scandinavia. Still others trace their family origins to
the Norman knights who also came to fight, and then
settled in Ireland. They all represent the rich fabric
of Irish society and have contributed to our ancient
culture and heritage. You are invited to celebrate and
share in this heritage by participating in this
movement, and even visiting the homes of your ancestors.
