Charters Towers Regions was declared a Natural Disaster Area in March 2023, due to the Northern and Central Western Queensland Monsoon and Flooding Event. Council were successful in their grant application in accordance with the QRA guidelines for the Restoration of Essential Public Assets.
The project scope consisted of Rural Road Grading as heavy formation grading incorporating 50 or 75mm of imported material across 8 roads totaling 154km of road network.
The project also required Mendi to set up a mobile crushing and screening plant at approved borrow pits.
Roads: Niall Road, Allensleigh Road, Amelia Downs Road, Emu Valley Road, Hillgrove Road, Kangerong Road, Maryvale Road, Spring Park Road.
Scope of Works: Heavy formation grading, Gravel re-sheeting, Maintenance grading, Shoulder grading, Stabilisation, Reforming, Resurfacing.
